ack to the coffee. The blend uses 4 beautiful coffees all having very different roast profiles to bring out the very best of each for espresso. We chose India and the Sethuraman Estate Plantation A as a base to the blend and because the Born Free Foundation manages a sanctuary for rescued tigers in the Bannerghatta National Park. The suffering of the tigers makes them unsuitable for release back into the wild, so the sanctuary offers them enclosed areas of around a hectare per tiger with fresh water in which they like to relax. We chose Kenya and the Kithunururu Estate AA to add some pleasing acidity and because the Born Free Foundation constructs lion-proof fencing around the Amboseli National Park to prevent the lions preying on livestock and becoming targets for the local community. It also carries out community outreach campaigns. We chose Ethiopia and the Teppi area to add some cocoa notes and because the rarest canine in the world, the Ethiopian wolf, is entirely reliant on the work of the Born Free Foundation which funds a programme that vaccinates local dogs to prevent disease, runs education programmes and monitors the wolves. We chose Tanzania and the Machare Estate to add some berry notes and because a team of conservationists is working to protect some of East Africa’s most endangered wildlife. The Born Free Foundation supports the West Kilimanjaro Conservation Project and has trained 12 local Maasai pastoralists who patrol the area and are proving to be a deterrent against poachers, who pose one of the biggest threats to wild animals.
